Festivals & Events

County Clare has always had a reputation for knowing how to have a good time, but it’s not until you’ve actually experienced one of the country’s top festivals that you realise how much the "BannerCounty" likes to party and have fun. Whether you’re into soaking up the cool tunes of a music festival, sucking oysters by the dozen, or getting highbrow with all things cultural or theatrical, there’s always something on somewhere around the county throughout the year.

Whether you’re a spectator sports fan or prefer to get involved, there are regular sporting events and clubs where you can indulge your passion and enjoy the very best of what Clare has to offer.

Tri the Burren 2011.

 Tri the Burren

Join us on Saturday 9th of July 2011 in Ballyvaughan in Co. Clare for the second running of the 'Tri the Burren' Sprint Triathlon.

Ballyvaughan is a small harbour village located in the northwest corner of the Burren region and provides a stunning backdrop for this unique event.

We have planned Tri the Burren to be a challenging event and to take advantage of the magnificent terrain around Ballyvaughan and we also encourage first timers to take part. We look forward to welcoming triathletes of all levels to Ballyvaughan in July 2011.

The race will begin with a 750m swim in Ballyvaughan Bay. Then a 24km cycle takes in the famous Corkscrew Hill through the rugged Burren landscape before the descent back into the village. The 5km run is through and around the village and back to the pier.

Most people will enter the Tri the Burren as individuals and swim, cycle and run their way to the finish line. However, you can also enter as a team of 3 and each person does one part each.

Registration for Tri the Burren 2011 is now open...
